Select System |
Freon is used as the Refrigerant in the Cars Air Conditioning System. The Air Conditioning System is a sealed System and should not need to be topped off unless there is a leak. If a leak is found, the leak should be repaired before adding more freon. |
TECH TIP |
Adding more freon than required will not make it cooler. |
DIAGNOSE |
To check for low freon levels you can use a machine or check the low pressure switch to see if there is battery voltage on both wires with the A/C turned on and the low pressure switch plugged in. |
REPLACE |
This should be done by a qualified technician only. The A/C System needs to be evacuated first. A machine is used in most cases to remove any existing freon from the system. Then just remove the hoses and a few bolts. For specific removal procedures get an Online Repair Manual |
