Car Air Conditioning Electrical:

Lets go through the electrical process of your auto air conditioning system when you turn it on.

  1. The Air Conditioning is turned on with the dash control that already has battery power. Power is sent to the low pressure switch
  2. If the Low pressure switch sees enough pressure(meaning the freon level is adequate) it allows the power to move through and heads to the Relay
  3. The AC Relay already has a separate power and ground and is waiting to receive the power signal from the low pressure switch. Once it does the relay then connects the power the relay already has to the other side of the relay to allow this power to flow to the Compressor and Condenser Fan(sometimes the high speed fan relay).
  4. Once the battery power has now made its way to the Air Conditioning Compressor is will cause the compressors clutch to engage and operate the compressor.
